Boring Math Class

Differential Equations isn't too terribly difficult. Learning it from the Russian dude who just got off the boat from the Motherland is a bit challenging, though it is fun to listen to him talk. I imagine Viktor would sound like Dr. Khenner. I think I will continue to just teach myself DEQ. It seems to be doing well. I made an A on the first exam.

This is going to be a long day

Sometimes... I wish

  • Apr. 5th, 2009 at 2:19 AM
Like I Care
Sometimes I wish I could keep my nose in my own business. I found out through some sources which I'm not supposed to be able to access that I have won an award in our chemistry department for being a TA. Turns out, my boss wasn't so sure I was deserving of it, but my research professor really stepped up to bat for me. I'm like "Yay! I won an award, my name will be on the award in the hall", but on the other side I'm like "Damn, my boss doesn't think I'm doing a very good job. (I don't like her anyways so it's not really a surprise. Her exact words were "While CJ isn't on the same level as the past recepients ...") Then... on the other foot (because I've ran out of hands) my research professor (who I am in constant fear that I'm disappointing) is fairly impressed with me in a TAing sense. Now... to impress him with my great research skills... not gonna happen.

GAH! I just wish I had never snooped and found out. Now I'm all... damn this sucks.

Absolutely amazed

My nephew has been crying all day and hasn't been asleep for more than twenty minutes. Amber, Mom, and Dad tried everything... somehow... I ended up having the nephew in my bedroom today. I put on "River Flows in You" from Twilight and the kid was out in fifteen minutes and has now been asleep for four hours on my bed, surrounded by a mountain of pillows with Taco keeping a watchful eye. It's great that the kid is sleeping and all... but I'm going to need my bed back... I can't sleep at my desk or in his crib or basonet.

I'm bored... sorry for the randomness

  • Jan. 9th, 2009 at 12:47 PM

Sometimes... while sitting in the research lab (like today) I realize I'm very bored. I've already watched Twilight today... what could I possibly do now?

Research Update... warning geekness

  • Jan. 6th, 2009 at 2:38 PM

I feel the need to give you far warning that this entry is basically for me to keep track of what I've done in research the past two days for my honors thesis.

If you're brave... feel free to read behind the cut. Research stuff )No wonder I'm so bloody tired and ready to go home.

It's times like these...

It's times like these (when I've been working for roughly seven hours on organizing and burning all the music from my computer into cds and backing it up on my external hard drive) that I realize that I have more music than I could listen to in a month straight... at least that's what itunes is saying.

*sigh* I suppose this is a good problem to have, right?

I could be nice

My drunken father and very!drunken brother are downstairs giving my sister's boyfriend the official raking over the coals and up the ass prison style stern lecture. You see... my sister just had a baby today by said lazy boyfriend. (Refer to previous journal entries). I could be nice and go downstairs and save him from being verbally raped and assaulted... but I don't like David (the boyfriend) enough to save him from the likes of my father and brother. Yes... we shall feed the poor gold fish to the piranhas.

A bit upset at myself

So I got most of my grades in today for this past semester... and honestly, I am a bit disappointed in myself.

I got a C, two B's, and few A's.

Chemistry 342 - Organic II - B
Chemistry 343 - Organic II Lab - A
Chemistry 399 - Research - A
Math 227 - Calculus and Analytical Geometry II - C
Honors 300: Climate Change - B
Folk Studies 280 - Cultural Diversity in the US - A
Psychology 100 - Introduction to Psychology - A

This semester has dropped my GPA from a 3.62 to a 3.53. I have to maintain a 3.5 to keep my scholarship. I'm flirting too close with the disaster line. *angry sigh* I need a Christmas Charlie and Viktor to cuddle up with and make me feel better* pouts...

I absolutely hate my honors class on climate change. It was advertised as a science class so I signed up... I mean, I did need the credit for honors. Is this class science?! NO! It is nothing but a dinky old hag talking about environmental literature. I couldn't possibly hate this class anymore. I've never taken a class that I didn't care about in at least some capacity. GAH! It's just so frustrating and... lame! Like a dog that keeps begging for food. My professor called me into her office on Friday and said she was disappointed in the amount of work I've done this semester. That she had heard a lot of the chemistry professors talking about how brilliant I was... blah, blah, blah. I replied promptly that I was disappointed in the complete lack of science in this class. I don't think she took it that well. I was a bit bitter about it.

GAH!! *Bangs head* I just want to write some fan fic... not this 15 page paper on "The Effect of Global Climate Change on the Spread of Waterborne Diseases"

*shoot me*

Oh my... it has been ages!

  • Sep. 14th, 2008 at 7:23 PM

Oh my... I can't believe it's been such a very long time since I've updated. Where has time gone?

So the updates since last time...

1. I'm back from Taiwan. It was absolutely amazing. Whenever I get a moment of complete and total boredom, I shall upload some more photos.

2. Back to school. I've started my junior year of college. I can't for the life of me remember where college has gone to. It seems like it's going by way too swiftly. Alas though, still ~8 years to go before I'm Dr. CJ Pruitt. *sigh* I like the way that sounds. Yay for PhD in chemistry.

3. I'm super busy this year. 19 credit hours, two research projects, marching band, volleyball band, chemistry club, teaching two classes, tutoring, and helping out with the running of one of the school's chemistry stockrooms due to a shortage on staff members, as well as assisting in two (soon to be three) classes as a teaching assistant. When did I agree to all of this stuff?

4. My sister is expecting in late December, early January. Going to Taiwan and coming back was odd in this case. When I left, my sister was "pregnant" now... she is really... pregnant. I can barely stand to hug her or be around her. It just creeps me out thinking that my sister is going to be someone's mom. I have taken to calling the rugrat Simba though. Oh yeah... it's a boy and I've already sworn death would come to whoever ask me to babysit.

5. The sister's idiot baby daddy has moved into my family's house... which translates into I have essentially moved out. I can't stand him. He's like a freakin' worthless parasite! GAH!!!! Damn him. Anyhoo... my sister actually asked me to move downstairs so that they could have the upstairs for themselves... GRRR! She asked me to move my entire freakin' room. GAH! I may do it though... just to get away from them.

6. The roommate this year is amazing. Jamie is absolutely wonderful and hilarious to be around. We were walking to dinner tonight and she pulled on her shirt and out fell a sock. So, in the middle of campus, I said, "Jamie... I think you dropped something." We looked down and it was her sock she had apparently thought she had lost when she went home this weekend. Needless to say the sock came to dinner with us.

*sigh* I really want to write some fic again... I just don't have the time.

Sidenote... YAY TWILIGHT!!! GO EMMETT!

Update from Taiwan

So it's been forever since I've updated.

Just to keep everyone up to date.

I finished my sophomore year of college. I was elected president of the Western Kentucky University Student Affiliate chapter of the American Chemical Society.

I'm in Taiwan doing chemistry research for 10 weeks. I've been here for two weeks. Just a few more left.

Hopefully, I'll write something relatively soon on the fan fic front. I've just been busy.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Too funny not to post

I'm on spring break from school and I'm at my parents house. My dad just yelled for me to come downstairs and taste the mash potatoes he's cooking for dinner and I almost died laughing. He has one of my mom's egg beaters plugged into his cordless drill and is using that as the mixer. Absolutely wonderful. Great potatoes too...

I love my dad.

Kind of bummed out, honestly.

So I tried out for drum major in marching band last season. I thought I did well. Apparently though, I didn't. It's okay though, I've managed to retain my spot as section leader for the piccolos (though 3 seniors interviewed for the spot), and that's really cool. I enjoy playing the music and marching and all. (Plus being drum major really isn't that fun since I did it in high school). I didn't really work that hard on learning to conduct the music for my audition, so I understand not getting it. The girl who got th open spot though is just super nice and really good. *sigh* I'm just kind of bummed out that I didn't get it though.

Oh well, though... I'm afraid of heights anyway.

*sigh* boring update
